Project Duration

3 Months

The Problem

The clients had experienced years of frustration after previous renovations carried out by other companies had not been completed correctly. Over time, serious structural issues emerged throughout the home, including movement in the foundations that required the entire house to be lifted and underpinned. Cracking throughout the home, leaking bathrooms and ongoing repair costs had left the family feeling emotionally and financially exhausted.

The Solution

After getting to know a neighbour who happened to be a builder, CBRS was recommended specifically for our expertise in bathroom renovations, waterproofing and remedial problem-solving. From the very first meeting, there was an instant connection between the clients and the CBRS team.

For homeowner Mandie, the priority was simple: find a team she could genuinely trust to do things properly.

Located in the beautiful semi-rural suburb of Ellis Lane, this project evolved over multiple stages and became far more than just a renovation. What began as a main bathroom and ensuite transformation eventually led to CBRS returning to renovate the laundry and outdoor bathroom after building a strong relationship and trust with the homeowners.

The Design Stage – The CBRS Advantage

One of the most special parts of this project was the level of creative trust placed in the CBRS team. Mandie gave Kal complete creative freedom across the project, with one important instruction:

“You choose everything… but don’t lose the character of my home.”

The vision became all about preserving the warmth and charm of the existing home while layering in elevated finishes, thoughtful functionality and a refined rustic feel full of personality and texture.

Working closely with the team at Beaumont Tiles Wetherill Park, every selection was carefully curated to create spaces that felt warm, welcoming and deeply connected to the character of the home.

The final result blends:

  • Rustic warmth
  • Farmhouse influence
  • Layered textures
  • Bronzed tapware
  • Character-filled finishes
  • Refined eclectic styling
  • Timeless functionality

Each room feels calm, inviting and lived-in. They are spaces that feel like they “give you a warm hug” the moment you walk in.

Main Bathroom & Ensuite Renovation

The existing bathrooms had ongoing leaking concerns and no longer suited the clients’ lifestyle or the quality level they wanted for their home.

Rather than dramatically altering the floorplans, the layouts were refined with subtle but important functional improvements that better suited the clients’ current stage of life.

As with every CBRS bathroom renovation, the project focused heavily on long-term durability and correct waterproofing practices. Given the clients’ previous experiences with poor workmanship, delivering confidence and peace of mind became just as important as the finished aesthetic.

The Mudroom Transformation

One of the biggest transformations within the project was the laundry renovation, which evolved into a fully reimagined mudroom space.

After learning this area was actually the family’s primary entry point into the home, with the front door rarely used, it became clear this room deserved far more attention than a standard laundry.

The space was redesigned to become both beautiful and highly practical, featuring:

  • Fully concealed laundry functionality
  • A full wall of custom storage
  • Farmhouse sink
  • Bronzed tapware
  • Warm textured finishes
  • Character filled feature tile
  • Built in seat with shoe storage underneath
  • Improved organisation and day-to-day functionality

The result is a highly functional transition space that now feels intentionally designed and deeply connected to the overall home aesthetic.

Outdoor Bathroom Renovation

Following the completion of the initial renovations, the clients invited CBRS back to renovate their outdoor bathroom space as well- a reflection of the trust and relationship built throughout the process.

The outdoor bathroom was designed to complement the style and warmth established throughout the home while maintaining durability and practicality.

The Emotional Impact

This project was about far more than tiles and tapware.

After years of stress, repairs and disappointing experiences with previous trades, the clients simply wanted to feel safe placing their trust in a renovation team again.

The emotional connection formed throughout this project became one of the most meaningful parts of the experience for everyone involved.

The relationship built throughout this renovation continues well beyond project completion, with CBRS now preparing to help renovate Mandie’s daughter’s first home.

“After they finished the main bathroom and ensuite, I was teary… so I had to find a way to get them back… so we got them to do our laundry and outdoor bathroom too.”
